The 53rd FMG Young Farmer of the Year Awards Ceremony on Saturday July 3 at Wigram Airforce Museum in Christchurch has sold out in record time.

This has been met with excitement by New Zealand Young Farmers (NZYF) and long time sponsor FMG, after having to cancel the 52nd FMG Young Farmer of the Year, planned to be held at the same venue in 2020, due to Covid-19.

“It’s a huge credit and recognition to 2021 Grand Final Convenor Sarah Heddell and her team, having planned this event for over two years now. They’ve obviously created a desirable event that both members and others want to attend,” said FMG National Sponsorship Manager Michelle Stevens.

“FMG has been involved with the Young Farmer of the Year contest for just over six years and there’s nothing we love more than celebrating the excellence and achievements of our Young Farmers”.

Contest sub-committee Chair and NZ Young Farmers Elected Board Member Robert Barry said the selling out of the Grand Final is evidence that the FMG Young Farmer of the Year competition is still alive and well, with wide support from our family of sponsors and membership, along with the general public”.

“I’m really excited to see the support for Grand Final from our members. Christchurch has had to wait two years for this Grand Final and it looks like the wait hasn’t dampened anyone’s enthusiasm! I’m looking forward to an exciting few days of competing, culminating in the sold-out evening show,” said NZYF CEO Lynda Coppersmith.

If you missed out on tickets, a waiting list has been created and there’s a number of other ticketed and free events over the three days of competition, including the free entry Practical Day on Friday, July 2 at Innovation Park, Templeton.
